Patrick O'Flaherty was an Irish politician who served as Mayor of Galway twice, first from 1964 to 1965 and then from 1973 to 1975. A native of Upper Dominick Street and one of six siblings, he attended Blackrock College and graduated from University College, Galway in 1950. He was also a rugby player, being capped for Connacht and selected for the Irish squad. His father previously served as Mayor, and after his death in 1959, O'Flaherty joined the Galway Corporation. He was married to Patricia O'Connor and had two children.
