Standing at 189 cm tall, he played for the Tartu Kalevi basketball team and won multiple national prizes, including two Estonian Cups and various medals in the Estonian Championships. He was also a member of the Estonian national team from 1963 to 1969 and earned the title of Master of Sports in 1964. Later, he worked as a mechanic.
