Pako Miangolarra, born Francisco Miangolarra Gorostiaga on December 8, 1934, in Gernika, Bizkaia, was a significant promoter of Basque culture and politics, both in the Basque Country and abroad (Venezuela, France). During the Franco era, he co-founded the Herri Gogoa record label in Donostia (1967-1981), alongside technician Iñaki Beobide, fostering the careers of various artists by recording their music in a clandestine studio. His family emigrated to Venezuela during the Spanish Civil War, where they established a successful printing business. He frequently returned to Donostia and Lapurdi from 1952 onward.
