P. M. Jayatilaka was a prominent educator and former principal of Thurstan College in Colombo. He was an early student of Nalanda College, Colombo, and made notable contributions to cricket, scoring 111 runs in the annual Ananda-Nalanda cricket match in 1928. His sister, the only sibling, is renowned educator Dr. Vimala de Silva from Devi Balika Vidyalaya, Colombo.
