Premalal Kumarasiri (1919-2004) was a prominent Sri Lankan communist politician and member of parliament. Born in Gonapinuwala, he was the youngest person elected to the first parliament of Ceylon at the age of 28, representing the Hakmana electorate in 1947. He played a key role in forming the Ceylon Communist Party (Maoist) in 1963, where he served as its first General Secretary. He represented the party during a historic visit of Zhou Enlai, the first Premier of China, to Sri Lanka in 1964.
