P. Amitai (Pinchas Amitai) was an Israeli entomologist who specialized in arachnids, a naturalist, educator, and author. Born on April 30, 1928, he became a veteran volunteer at the Jerusalem Biblical Zoo since 1940 and served as a biology lecturer at David Yellin College. Throughout his life, he was involved in educating children and youth about nature and research. He was awarded the Freund Prize in 1996 for his contributions to science education.
