Brigadier General Otto Špaček was a Czechoslovak fighter pilot who fought in World War II for the Royal Air Force. After fleeing to Poland in 1939, he served as a fighter pilot in Britain from 1940 until the end of the war. He was injured in 1940 and survived three aircraft crashes. He participated in air operations during the Battle of France, the Battle of Britain, and missions over continental Europe. He actively took part in the Allied invasion of Normandy in 1944 and the blockade of the German garrison in Dunkirk, France, from 1944 to 1945.
