Oonah McFee, née Browne, was a Canadian novelist and short story writer born on September 11, 1916, in Newcastle, New Brunswick. She became notable for her 1977 novel 'Sandbars,' which won the Books in Canada First Novel Award. Raised in the Ottawa Valley, she worked in the 1930s at CBC Radio One, where she met and married Allan McFee. Later, she pursued creative writing, making her debut with a short story in 1971. Though she planned a series of linked novels, only 'Sandbars' was published before her passing on December 19, 2006.
