Ōmine Akira (大峯 顕) was a Japanese philosopher, Jōdo Shinshū priest, and haiku poet, born on July 1, 1929. He earned a Doctor of Literature degree from Kyoto University in 1976. Akira was an emeritus professor at Osaka University and a former professor at Ryukoku University. He also served as the head priest of Sentaiji Temple. His academic focus included religious philosophy, particularly studies on mid-term Fichte and Nishida Kitarō. He was well-known in the haiku community under the pen name Ōmine Akira.
