Oliver Richard Jessel was a New Zealand-born British businessman known for his ownership of several companies through Jessel Securities, including the Demerara Sugar Company and P&O. He also owned Firth Brown, Johnsons, and the retailers Maple Macowards. In 1968, Jessel acquired London Indemnity & General Insurance, which ultimately led to his financial downfall as he was compelled to liquidate his assets to support the business after significant product redemptions by savers.
