Norman Raeben was a notable American painter born in 1901 in the Russian Empire, best known as the youngest child of Yiddish writer Sholem Aleichem. He immigrated to New York City in 1914 and studied painting under significant figures at the Ashcan School. Raeben taught many prominent artists, including Bob Dylan, and worked from his studio in Carnegie Hall until his death in 1978. His artistic influence and legacy continue to resonate through his students and contributions to American art.
