Nomi Kaplan is a Lithuanian-Canadian photographer and artist, born on December 7, 1933, in Memel, Lithuania. She immigrated to Ontario in 1940 and later settled in Vancouver in 1955. Kaplan studied at Wayne State University, the University of British Columbia, and the Vancouver School of Art, specializing in art, photography, and film. She taught photography at the Emily Carr Institute from 1991 to 1994. Kaplan co-founded the ReelFeelings collective and organized Vancouver's first Women's Film Festival in 1972. Her works are featured in notable collections, including the Brooklyn Museum and the Canada Council Art Bank.
