Nobuo Satō (September 24, 1932 - May 19, 1993) was a Japanese philosopher known for his work in language philosophy and French thought. He explored the structure and meaning of language from a rhetorical perspective, aiming to reassess rhetoric, which had been central to the humanities until the late 19th century but rapidly declined thereafter. His notable works include 'Symbolic Man' (1977) and 'Sense of Rhetoric' (1978).
