Nita A. Farahany is an Iranian American author and distinguished professor, known for her expertise in the societal, legal, and ethical implications of new technology. Author of 'The Battle for Your Brain,' she teaches law and philosophy at Duke University, where she is the Robinson O. Everett Distinguished Professor. Farahany is the founding director of the Duke Initiative for Science and Society and chairs the Bioethics and Science Policy MA program. She is actively involved in various legal and ethical committees, and was appointed by President Obama to the Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues in 2010.
