He earned his doctorate in 1984 with a thesis on decision-making under uncertainty. Sahlin's work spans various philosophical domains and intersects with law and cognitive psychology. He has a particular interest in the philosophy of F.P. Ramsey, authoring a monograph and editing Ramsey's posthumous works. He has explored creativity and its environments. Since 2017, he has been a member of the European Group on Ethics in Science and New Technologies.
