Nikolay Vasilievich Shapkin (1923—1945) was a Soviet reconnaissance pilot in the Naval Aviation during World War II. He was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union on July 22, 1944, for his bravery and service. Achieving the rank of senior lieutenant on November 1, 1944, Shapkin contributed significantly to the Soviet war efforts during the conflict, especially in reconnaissance missions.
