Nikolaus Michalek is an Austrian notary and non-partisan politician born on April 5, 1940, in Vienna. He earned a doctorate in law from the University of Vienna in 1962. Michalek served as a public notary in Vienna from 1976 to 1990 and again starting in 2000. He held the position of President of the Austrian Notarial Chamber in 1989-90 and was the Austrian Minister of Justice from 1990 to 2000. Additionally, he served as the President of the Austrian Lawyers' Day.
