He graduated from Øregård Gymnasium and earned a master's degree in chemistry from the Technical University of Denmark in 1940, followed by a magister degree from the University of Copenhagen in 1943. Clauson-Kaas worked in both academia and industry, contributing to various institutions and founding his own company, NCK, in 1956. He was recognized with several honors, including the Julius Thomsen Gold Medal and honorary doctorates from two universities.
