Nicolo Impastato, also known as 'Nick Tousa', was a Kansas City gangster born near Palermo, Sicily on January 6, 1906. He became a member of the Mafia while in Sicily and fled to the U.S. in 1927. Settling in Kansas City, he worked as a go-between for various crime families, especially coordinating narcotics trafficking between Kansas City and Tampa. He was convicted in a federal drug case and deported back to Sicily after serving two years in prison, where he died in September 1979.
