Sir Nicholas Andrew Serota is a British art historian born on April 27, 1946, in London. He served as the director of the Tate museum from 1988 to 2017, during which he oversaw the opening of the Tate St Ives in 1993 and Tate Modern in 2000. Since 2017, he has been the director of the Arts Council England, a position he will hold until 2025.
