Nicasio Tangol was a Chilean writer born in 1906 in Añihué, Chiloé archipelago, and passed away in 1981. He studied Pedagogy in Manual Arts at the University of Chile and is known for his literary works that explore the culture of southern Chile. His writings reflect the customs, beliefs, and histories of Chiloé, while also highlighting the indigenous cultures of the Patagonian region. Tangol's contributions to literature were recognized when he was awarded the Municipal Prize of Santiago in 1966 for his short stories.
