Narges Mohammadi is an Iranian human rights activist and scientist, serving as the vice president of the Human Rights Defenders Center (DHRC), led by Nobel Laureate Shirin Ebadi. Born on April 21, 1972, she was sentenced to 16 years in prison in Tehran in May 2016 for founding a human rights movement advocating for the abolition of the death penalty. In 2023, while still imprisoned, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for her struggle against the oppression of women in Iran and her efforts to promote human rights and freedom for all.
