Raised by her grandmother and later moving to Bucharest, she trained in dance and singing, eventually adopting Indian music styles. Notably, she was invited to India by Indira Gandhi in 1967. Following a successful career, she faced a ban on foreign tours in the 1980s and later lived in obscurity, passing away in poverty on February 26, 2013.
