Myer Kangan (1917-1991) was an influential Australian public servant and educationist, known as the founder of the TAFE system. After conducting an inquiry into technical education for the Whitlam government, he produced the Kangan Report in 1974, which shaped vocational education in Australia for years. Born in Brisbane to Russian Jewish descent, he served in the Commonwealth public service during WWII and worked in the Department of Labour. Kangan later established a Jewish Centre on Ageing. The Kangan Institute in Victoria honors his contributions to education.
