Muse Bihi Abdi, born in 1948 in Hargeisa, British Somaliland (now Somaliland), is a politician and former military officer who is the fifth and current president of the unrecognized state of Somaliland. He took office on December 13, 2017. In the 1970s, he served as a pilot in the Somali Air Force under Siad Barre. In 2010, he was appointed leader of the ruling Peace, Unity, and Development Party in Somaliland. Bihi was selected as the presidential candidate in November 2015 and won the 2017 presidential election.
