Muru Walters was a prominent New Zealand figure known for his contributions as an author, master carver, broadcaster, artist, rugby union player, and most notably as a Māori Anglican bishop. He served as the first bishop of Te Pīhopatanga o Te Upoko o Te Ika from 1992 until his retirement in 2018.
