Münir Ülgür was a prominent Turkish academic born in Istanbul on December 24, 1917, and passed away on March 22, 2007. He graduated from the Electromechanics department of the Higher Engineering School in 1941 and started working as an assistant in the Measurement and Electrical Machines Laboratory. As part of his contributions to Istanbul Technical University (ITU), he founded Turkey's first meteorology engineering program and automatic control laboratories. He authored five original and seven translated books and published twenty-four articles, and he was proficient in English and German.
