Captain Mukhtiar Singh (1943-2019) was a prominent Indian wrestler known for being the first to win two gold medals for India at the Commonwealth Games. He also earned a bronze medal at the 1970 Asian Games. Serving in the Indian Army for 26 years, he retired as an Hon. Captain in 1988 and was awarded the Vishisht Seva Medal for his services. Additionally, he received the Arjun Award in 1967, which is the second-highest sporting honor in India. His contributions to wrestling and the military have made him a respected figure in India.
