Muhammad Shamsi, born Muhammad Hussein al-Matlabi on January 6, 1943, in Al-Amarah, was an Iraqi poet and writer. He graduated from the College of Arts at Baghdad University in 1966. Shamsi worked as a teacher and later held various editorial positions in Iraqi newspapers. He served as the director of publishing and composition from 1981 to 1984 and was notably active in children's literature. His poetic works include "Sun in Words" (1968) and "The Blood of Coastal Trees" (1976), as well as the novel "Comedy of Reptiles" (1979). He passed away on April 26, 1996.
