Morris Ellis 'Fruit' White was an American jazz banjoist and guitarist born on January 17, 1911. He grew up in Peoria, Illinois, and played with notable musicians such as Charlie Creath and Ethel Waters in the 1920s. White became a significant sideman for Cab Calloway after joining his band in 1930 and continued until 1938. He also collaborated with Lionel Hampton in 1941 before retiring from the music industry. He passed away in November 1986.
