He had an active career from 1992 to 2012, during which he won the French national middleweight title twice, the WBC International middleweight title in 1997, and the European middleweight title in 2002. Notably, he became the mandatory challenger for Bernard Hopkins after defeating Cristian Sanavia, but lost to Hopkins by technical knockout in a bout on March 29, 2003.
