Moriaki Watanabe is a Japanese specialist in theater and French literature, born on March 20, 1933. He is known for translating symbolist poetry and staging translated plays. In 2006, he received the Mainichi Cultural Prize in the literature and arts category for his translation of Paul Claudel's work, 'Le soulier de satin.' Watanabe is also recognized for his interviews with Michel Foucault.
