Mons Sandnes Nygard (1925-1991) was a Norwegian jurist and professor at the University of Bergen. He held a scholarship from 1972 to 1975, obtaining his doctorate in 1975, the same year he became a professor. Nygard was an advocate for more Nynorsk in the legal system, especially through his role in the Civil Code Committee. During his studies, he served as the chair of the student language organization in Oslo.
