Somers worked at the National Aerospace Laboratory and later joined the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute, where she became a TV weather presenter from 1995 to 1998. She has also worked as a communication advisor for the government. Somers has contributed to various media including NOS, AT5, and Het Weer Magazine, and she has held communication roles in public service organizations.
