Riad co-authored the book 'Journey in the Time of Nubia' with his wife, Dr. Kawthar Abdel Rasoul, and has written three books on Cairo and Egypt. He achieved his Bachelor's in Geography in 1949, a Diploma in Sudanese Studies in 1951, and a PhD in Anthropology in 1956. He has numerous publications, including articles and around 250 research papers focusing on Egyptian, African, and Middle Eastern matters.
