Mitsurō Mutō (March 17, 1914 - July 25, 1998) was a Japanese social critic and social thinker. He obtained a Doctorate in Economics from Chuo University in 1961, with a dissertation titled 'Economic Ethics: Economics and Worldview.' His research focused on social democracy and the philosophy of Karl Jaspers. He was also a founding member of the Jaspers Society, established in 1951 alongside Saburō Suzuki and Masao Kusanagi.
