Miren Arantzazu Goñi Auzmendi was a Basque ethnographer born on June 24, 1925, in Tolosa, Gipuzkoa, and passed away on January 13, 2017, in Bergara. She studied at the Donostia Commerce School and became involved with the Aranzadi Science Society after Jose Miguel Barandiaran returned to Gipuzkoa. Goñi researched ethnography in the Elosu neighborhood of Bergara and took over the presidency of Etniker-Gipuzkoa in 1991. She was also the chair of the Anthropology and Ethnography Department at Eusko Ikaskuntza from 1993 to 1995.
