Minoru Matsuya (1910-1995) was a prominent Japanese jazz pianist known for his contributions to jazz music after World War II. A graduate of the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, he studied under the noted pianist Leo Sirota. Matsuya played jazz at an American military base and was instrumental in teaching many Japanese vocalists. He is recognized for his friendship with Ichiro Fujiyama and for performing works by composers like George Gershwin. He also premiered Roh Ogura's 'Sonatine for piano' and shared a close relationship with Ogura.
