Milton Stelardo was a Uruguayan writer, civil servant, and professor born on July 13, 1918, in Canelones. He taught History at various liceos, served as Secretary of the Canelones Departmental Council from 1955 to 1958, and was the director of the municipal library from 1959 to 1966. He held the position of Minister of the Electoral Court between 1966 and 1971. A member of the National Academy of Letters, he occupied the Delmira Agustini chair until his death on December 23, 2001. A reading room was named in his honor in 2001.
