Miloslav Mečíř is a former professional Slovak tennis player born on May 19, 1964, in Banská Bystrica, Czechoslovakia. He won the gold medal in men's singles at the 1988 Olympics representing Czechoslovakia and reached two major finals in singles. In 1987, he won the WCT Finals. Mečíř entered the ATP top 10 in 1984 and gained prominence by defeating Jimmy Connors in the semifinals of Philadelphia. He reached his first Grand Slam final at the 1986 US Open, where he faced fellow Czechoslovak Ivan Lendl.
