Milo Đukanović is a Montenegrin politician who has served as the President of Montenegro since May 20, 2018. He has held the position of Prime Minister several times from 1991 until 2016. A long-time leader of the Democratic Socialist Party, he has played a significant role in Montenegrin politics since the early 1990s. Initially an ally of Slobodan Milošević, Đukanović shifted towards advocating Montenegrin nationalism and independence. His tenure has been marked by allegations of corruption and authoritarianism. Under his leadership, Montenegro joined NATO in 2017.
