Born in San Antonio, Texas, she faced the loss of her first husband during World War II before marrying Judge Alfred C. Baass in 1946. The couple had two daughters, Carol Sowa and Nancy Baass. Baass spent her later years in Victoria, Texas, where she passed away at the age of 95.
