Mildred Katherine Nobles (1903–1993) was a Canadian mycologist recognized for her expertise in wood-rotting fungi. Growing up on a farm in Ontario, she became an authority on the culture and identification of these fungi. Nobles developed the 'Nobles Species Code,' a numerical system for identifying species, which is still in use today. In 1986, she was honored with the 'Distinguished Mycologist' award by the Mycological Society of America. Her contributions significantly advanced the field of mycology before her passing in Ottawa.
