Milan Kriššák was a prominent Slovak mountaineer, Czechoslovak national representative, and trainer, born on January 30, 1944, in Stráže pod Tatrami. He was also a ski mountaineer, mountain guide, and a member of mountain rescue service, recognized as a distinguished master of sports and awarded the Iames Gold Badge. Kriššák participated in four Czechoslovak expeditions to the Himalayas. Tragically, he died on July 2, 1979, in Poprad after sustaining injuries from a helicopter crash in the High Tatras while on a rescue mission.
