Miklós Lovas was a Hungarian astronomer born in 1931 and passed away on April 18, 2019. He worked at the Konkoly Observatory from 1964 to 1995. Lovas made significant contributions to astronomy by discovering two asteroids and several comets, including periodic comets 93P/Lovas 1 and 184P/Lovas 2. He also discovered 42 supernovae and observed the impact of the Soviet spacecraft Luna 2 on the lunar surface in 1959. In his honor, asteroid 73511 Lovas was named after him.
