Miklavž Grabnar is a Slovenian biologist and molecular geneticist, born on November 15, 1936, in Ljubljana. He studied biology at the University of Ljubljana and completed his PhD at Johns Hopkins University in 1967. As one of the first molecular biologists in former Yugoslavia, Grabnar contributed significantly to the fields of molecular genetics and microbiology. He organized curricula and laboratories for genetics and gave lectures at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels until his retirement in 2009. Grabnar played a vital role in popularizing molecular biology studies in Slovenia throughout the 1980s.
