Mikel Goikoetxea Elorriaga, also known by his nom de guerre 'Txapela', was a Basque political activist and member of ETA. He was born on July 3, 1956, in Derio, Biscay, and was fatally wounded on December 28, 1983, in Donibane Lohizune by a GAL member using a telescopic rifle. He died in a Bordeaux hospital on January 1, 1984, due to his injuries. Mikel was the brother of Jon Ugutz Goikoetxea.
