Michael David Edmonson is a former superintendent of the Louisiana State Police, serving from January 2008 to March 24, 2017. He is notable for being the longest-serving superintendent in the agency's history. Appointed by Republican Governor Bobby Jindal, his tenure ended after a disagreement concerning the mishandling of expense accounts by troopers during a conference in San Diego, California, which led to his resignation being accepted by Jindal's successor, Democrat John Bel Edwards.
