She represented Japan in the World Cross Country Championships in 2004 and 2007. Notagashira was also affiliated with Wako, a well-known company in Japan. She completed her education at Aomori Prefectural Nobeji High School. Her contributions to long-distance running have been recognized in Japan's athletics community.
