Miguel Kast Rest (December 18, 1948 - September 18, 1983) was a Chilean-German economist associated with the Chicago Boys. After earning a master's degree in economics from the University of Chicago, he joined the government agency ODEPLAN in 1973, focusing on poverty reduction programs. He served as the Minister of Labor and later as the President of the Central Bank of Chile. His tenure was marked by economic challenges, leading to a significant devaluation of the peso. Kast struggled with bone cancer and passed away in September 1983.
